6. Poipu Beach
Kauai, Hawaii
Normally the waters at Poipu are calm and well suited to swimming
and snorkeling. As a result this may be the most popular beach location on
the south shore of Kauai. Families with young children will appreciate the
shallow sandy bottom of the beach, and the peaceful trade winds seaward of
the beach. This beautiful white sand beach is calm year round, and is also
home to endangered monk selas which often frolic nearby, and sometimes grace
us with a snooze on the beaches. Beyond the shallow beach area for kiddies,
more adventurous snorklers and swimmers can adventure out to a reef teaming
with tropical fish.
7. Kauna 'oa Beach
The Big Island, Hawaii
The warm 78 degree waters here lap up against a quarter mile long expanse
of crescent shaped beach. This is a honeymooners haven, with its private,
secluded sands. There is a rock reef here helps to protect the beach
from the nearby surf. The famous Mauna Kea Beach Hotel contributes to
keeping the beach clean and offers first class beach facilities as well. You
may wish to arrive here before 9 AM to beat the crowds who throng here for
snorkeling swimming and boogie boarding. Golfers will love the nearby Mauna
Kea Golf Course. And everyone loves our
personalized chopsticks!
8. Waikiki Beach
Oahu, Hawaii
Perhaps the most famous beach name in all of Hawaii, this beach has been
visited by literally missions of happy honeymooners and tourists. With
Oahu's Diamond Head Crater at one end, and Ala Wai yacht harbor at the
other, skyscrapers form a unique background for this action packed tourist
mecca. Rafting, surfing and drinking are all popular activities here.
Nearby eateries and shopping line this mile and a half long stretch of
interconnected beaches. Tan by day, and enjoy the many Hula shows by night
after catching dinner at one of the many nearby ocean view restaurants. A
favorite wedding and honeymoon location.
9. Honaunau Bay
Location: The Big Island, Hawaii
Honaunau Bay is a crescent shaped beach next to Puuhonua o Honaunau, (the Place of Refuge),
which is a very old
Hawaiian religious region and one of Hawaii's most popular historic destinations.
Formerly the home of the Island's ruling Chief, Honaunau is one of the
best diving locations in Hawaii, and is internationally renowned amongst
scuba divers for its teaming tropical fish, a great many of which can only
be found in this location. The volcanoe Kilueau spewed its lava
into the nearby ocean, forming a black lava foundation for the abundant
coral reefs here. These reefs are home to a great variety of beautiful
tropical fish, including the yellow tang, long-nosed butterfly fish, surgeon
fish, puffer fish, kala, kole, and also the endangered green sea turtle.
This popular tourist destination is a Kona coast "must see" location.
10. Kaanapali Beach
Maui, Hawaii
This busy beach sports two resort hotels and tons of water related
activities. Choose from scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and boat
tours, and don't forget the suntan lotion because there is abundant
sunbathing here as well. Relax on the beach with your favorite drink served
by one of the resort hotel's butlers as you soak up the sun and enjoy
watching all the other sun worshipers on this busy beach. Nearby shopping
and restaurants round at your days vacation activities in this exclusive
resort area. A great wedding reception and party place!
